Banked Track Heroes is an ongoing project that Martin started back in 2011 to satisfy his thirst for knowledge of motorcycle racing pre 1911…

100 years after the events happened Martin has made some progress on his understanding of this part of motorcycle sports history through researching using periodical accounts and talking to experts in the field. Not only is this period a complicated part of the motorcycle development it is also barely documented. Martin hopes the project will document the period in an engaging way not just using the written word but also illustrations and comic strips to bring this fascinating world to life.

In this section of the website you will find web versions of Banked Track Heroes articles published in The Classic Motorcycle.

The large sign written tank at the front holds the water supply with the slogan ‘Oh Stanley Oh’ Well, that;s what the period photos seem to portray.
